Our stunning 2009 Page 3 Idol winner Kelly Hall had only been modelling for TWO MONTHS before landing the prestigious prize, but she was already used to surprises.
Besides the bombshell news that she had won our fantastic contest, the natural 30F beauty therapist recalls the moment she knew she was in the running for the title.
She had been on holiday when she was voted through to the semi-finals and says: “I was in Spain and all these lads started waving The Sun at me, saying, ‘Hey Kelly, you’re in the paper!’ I was on the beach, wondering what on earth was going on.”
“I entered the Page 3 tour at Lava and Ignite nightclub in Northampton and I won it,” says Kelly. “There were ten of us stood on stage in our Sun bikinis and I was so paranoid.
“I’d never done anything like that before and I was there, half naked and sober, in front of all these men.
“I didn’t think I had a chance of winning that, but the crowd voted me as their favourite. I couldn’t believe it.”
Then on May 29 - her 19th birthday - Kelly was given the news that Sun readers had voted her our Page 3 Idol winner.
She said at the time: “It’s the best present ever. I’m in shock but winning Page 3 Idol is the icing on my cake.
“I’ve always wanted to be a Page 3 girl and now I’m on an absolute high.”
Kelly dreamt of starring on our world-famous Page 3 for years while growing up.
She says: “My family has always bought The Sun and when I was about 13 I started to notice the Page 3 girls and how glamorous they looked.
“It’s not tacky, it’s playful topless modelling, and I like the fact that everyone on Page 3 has natural boobs.
“A couple of years ago I said to my mum that I wanted to do that one day and she said, ‘Go for it’.
Kelly had been working at the Beauty Spot salon in Daventry for two-and-a-half years. Yet despite spending every day pampering her clients with facials and manicures, she insists she’s not at all a high-maintenance girl herself.
She says: “I never have any time to do my own treatments. My nails are always in a terrible state. I’ll have to sort that out now though.
These days Page 3 beauties are very involved with charities, especially Help for Heroes, which provides care for injured service personnel and Kelly is planning to use her position at Page 3 to help good causes. She already helps with a local charity.
She says: “I really like the fact that Page 3 girls are so involved with charity work. I volunteer with Helping Hands, which takes terminally ill and disabled children from the community on day trips and holidays.
“Everyone admires Keeley and it would be amazing to have some of that success,” she says.
She says: “I’ve no idea what will happen at the moment but I just want to do Page 3 for as long as possible.
“It really hasn’t sunk in yet.
“My ambition was always to be on Page 3 and now I’ve made it. I have to pinch myself every morning just to check it’s real!”
But there is one person who is so far definitely not impressed by her success - her little brother Alex.
She says: “He saw my photo in the paper and he’s excited for me that I won - but he just thinks it’s funny.”
