The success of certain ex-Page 3 girls is well documented, but even Sam Fox would struggle to match the achievements of Ava Cadell, aka Ildiko Eva Csath, aka Dr. Ava.
Raised in a Hungarian orphanage by strict nuns who told her that if she kissed a boy a baby would pop out of her mouth, Ava didn’t waste any time escaping to London where she enjoyed stints as a trainee nurse, au pair and a dancer before hitting the big time on Page 3.
“I grew up a very confused teenager,” she later commented.
"It was my calling to find out as much as I could about love and relationships. I was destined to become a sexologist - we all teach what we need to learn the most."
After some time in Paris, Ava moved to the States and turned her energies to the study of personal relationships and sexual fulfilment. She obtained a doctorate in human behaviour from Newport University in California and later a doctorate of education in human sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco.
Not content with one career, Cadell also commanded more than 20 film and television appearances including Mel Brooks’ History of the World: Part I, Smokey and the Bandit and even the Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick Commando.
Eventually, Ava left Hollywood behind to concentrate on her practice. She has written several books covering aspects of relationships and sex and has appeared on numerous American TV shows, including Montel Williams and Geraldo.
She is highly sought-after speaker and lectures around the globe on the benefits of healthy love and shared intimacy, even founding the Loveology University, an Online university of love coaching.
"Feeling sexy and being in touch with my body has saved my soul," she insists.
In 1992 she married noted Los Angeles criminal defence attorney Peter L. Knecht.
