Over 9,800 pictures have appeared on Page 3 during 38 glorious glamour years. And as we celebrate the passing of another year in the history of this much loved institution, we're looking back at some of the pivotal moments in the life of the nation's favourite page.
Today we revisit the 70s, when collars were long, trouser bottoms were wide and girls like Jilly Johnson weren't wearing any of them!
November 1970: Stephanie Rahn raises a smile at breakfast tables across the nation and becomes our first topless Page 3 girl.
March 1971: Viv Neves is already a familiar chest on Page 3, when she becomes a household name after appearing naked in an advert in The Times.
August 1971: The Page 3 girl of the 70s, Jilly Johnson, appears in The Sun for the first time.
August 1974: Dr Robert Baron claims Page 3 brings peace to the world by pacifying anger. Well, what would life be like without it?
January 1976: It's easy to lose track of time when Page 3 girls about, so the first Page 3 calendar is produced featuring Nina Carter and Jilly Johnson.
April 1977: Linda Lusardi, who was later crowned top Page 3 Girl of All Time, makes her debut.
August 1977: Readers are given the opportunity to display their loyalty when lingerie with a Page 3 motif goes on sale.
March 1978: Men all over the country are devastated as Vanya, twice voted Page 3 Girl of the Year, appears for the final time.
July 1978: We had an ace up our sleeve and you did too - if you splashed out £1 on our Page 3 playing cards.
October 1978: Readers get the chance to appear on Page 3 in a special contest. Beauty consultant Tina Thomas scoops the £500 top prize.
